UFOP welcomes the Consul of the United States

Last Tuesday morning, August 9, the US Consul, Katherine Earhart Ordoñez, the Public Diplomacy specialist, Cynthia Rocha, and the Public Relations Coordinator, Ana Lúcia Gonçalves, visited UFOP.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen internationalization issues between the University and the U.S.A. During the meeting that took place at UFOP's Rectory, attended by Rector Cláudia Marliére and Vice-Rector Hermínio Nalini, the Director of International Relations, Anderson Gamarano, briefly presented the University. Prof. Anelise Dutra, Coordinator of the English Language Program and Pedagogical Coordinator of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (Português como Língua Estrangeira - PLE) of the Language Center of UFOP/Andifes-IsF Network, also briefly discussed the actions developed regarding the teaching and learning of English and PLE in UFOP. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of Extension and Culture, Marcos Knupp, and a staff member of the International Relations Office (DRI), Jaqueline Schultz, who also briefly presented the Center of Languages and Cultures, an institutional extension action recently approved and coordinated by Professor Viviane Pimenta, from the Department of Letters, and about internationalization, extension, and culture actions that UFOP has already promoted in partnership with the US Embassy.
Consul Katherine Earhart Ordoñez said she is at UFOP's disposal to support projects related to languages, culture, and cooperation with institutions in the United States, highlighting the annual public notice to fund actions in the state of Minas Gerais. Specifically concerning languages, Specialist Cynthia Rocha addressed the EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) training programs, in addition to English language teaching support programs, such as the English Language Fellow Program. The complete list of programs for English teaching/learning support promoted by the Embassy is available here.
It is worth mentioning an invitation from the Consul for those interested in higher education in the United States: the Education USA Fair. The event, which includes several institutions from the United States, will be held remotely on August 24 and will have a face-to-face edition on September 27, at the Hotel Fasano, in Belo Horizonte
